1- Josone Park
Josone is a beautiful park that consists of several hectares of varied vegetation, with majestic trees and a small lake, where you can enjoy romantic moments with your partner or tranquility with the family. If you take a boat ride on the lake, you will see several species of birds and plants. The park has natural, historical, architectural, cultural, floristic and ornithological values.
There is an old mansion, neoclassical style built in 1942, surrounded by a large and beautiful garden. It was built by a couple who owned a distillery in the nearby city of Cárdenas, it was their private residence and resting place. The name of the park is due to the union of the first letters of its owners, José and Onelia, and has a beautiful love story. We recommend visiting it.
2- Visit the Varadero Dolphinarium
The place has a large swimming pool surrounded by vegetation where several dolphins coexist, offering several daily shows. With an extra payment you can swim 15 minutes with them and shoot them photos. If you go with children, it will be a memory they will never forget …
It also has a playground for infants and souvenir shops.
3- Varahicacos Ecological Reserve.
It is a protected area towards the end of the Hicacos peninsula, on the east path and very close to the South Highway. The reserve has historical, natural, scientific and educational values that make it an excellent option when we get a little tired of the sun and the beach.
It is a good place to see several species of land, water, migratory and endemic birds of the island. Ornithology lovers will be planted.
It presents a wide diversity of ecosystems of the tropical-coastal type, also with many native plants and reptiles. It also has the ruins of the oldest salt flats in Cuba and the Caribbean, and archaeological sites with aboriginal pictographs.
4- The Cave of Ambrose
The cave of Ambrose is one of the archaeological heritage of Varadero. You can get there by the South Highway, about 500 meters past the Club Amigo Varadero.
Discovered in 1961, it houses more than 40 pre-Columbian paintings in its 300 meters. The Cave of Ambrose was a settlement, first of indigenous people before the arrival of the Spanish conquerors and later of escaped slaves. The drawings in caves are proof of this.
5- Varadero Golf Club
The Varadero Golf Club occupies a narrow strip of land near the sea and borders the Meliá Varadero, Meliá Las Américas, Sol Club Palmeras, Golf & Suites Resort, SuperClubs Varadero, Tuxpan and Breezes Bella Costa hotels. It is 35 km from Varadero Airport and 140 km from Havana City.
It was designed by the famous architect Les Furber and has a combination of styles. It is surrounded by sand traps and lakes; with holes located next to the sea as traps or obstacles. It has the unique peculiarity of having several salt water lakes that communicate directly with the sea.
Varadero Golf Club has twice hosted major tournaments such as the Grand Final of the European Challeguer Tour and the AUDI Golf Cup of Spain.
6- Visit the Xanadú Mansion
Built in 1930 by the American millionaire Irénee Dupont and decorated in the style of the 30s, the place has a warm and spiritual atmosphere. Today it serves as the Club House of Varadero Golf Club. The facility is open to the general public for your visit, but there is a hosting service in its six luxury rooms. There is also a very luxurious restaurant with bar and selected wine cellars.
7- Tour the craft fairs
In Varadero there are several craft fairs, you can find everything from fine clothes, paintings and typical hats to souvenirs and crafts to decorate the home. Jewelry and jewelry made with corals are also sold. In any circumstance it will be a nice memory of Varadero beach.
